As I reflect back on my life I never dreamed I would be raising a child on my own. Being a single mother was not what I had imagined. Talk about stressful, knowing you are the sole provider for your child. How was I going to make it? How was I going to afford to raise this child on my own? How will I put him thru college? These are just a few of the questions a single mother faces everyday.
Even through all the pressures of life I take great pride in knowing I am raising a good Christian child. I am thankful we both have God in our lives. Everyday I thank the Lord above for all the many blessings he has given me. I know I am never alone and I always have someone to turn to. Whenever I feel as though I can’t go on I turn to the Lord and he always gives me the strength to persevere. Without him in my life I would not be the person I am today.
I love being a mother. I live my life as an example for my child. I want him to see how happy you can be when you trust in the Lord. He knows that he is able to achieve his dreams and goals with hard work and determination. I try and teach him to be respectful and considerate of others and to be thankful for all he has been given.
I am thankful I am now a part of Arise Ministries. What a wonderful organization. To know there are those out there, such as Pam and Shelley, who truly care about us single mothers. I encourage all of you to attend the “Survive and Thrive” conference. Trust me when I say you will leave with a feeling of rejuvenation, encouragement and a renewed strength of faith.
My message to all those single mothers out there: Be strong and always trust in the Lord. Never let a day go by without telling those you love just how much they mean to you. Always forgive those who hurt you, don’t harbor negative and hurtful feelings. Cherish the time you have with your children and always tells them how much you love them. Life is a journey, enjoy it and remember you are never alone.
