Single Mothers
Single motherhood is not a curse but a celebration!
Who is a single mom?
She’s the most talented woman you know! She’s like the trapeze artist in a circus. She swings on her tightrope of performing her talent of being the cook, the taxi driver, the money maker, the homework monitor, the spiritual leader, the band-aid applier, and the person who wipes away tears, all in a twelve hour day! She might be a widow, a single again lady, a woman never married, a mother having adopted a child without a spouse. Though she might be married, she often feels like a single mother: her husband is incarcerated or at war. But most of all, she has before her the greatest opportunity in world: the potential of raising amazing children!
It’s a fact: you might not be a single mom, but everyone knows one! They occupy ¼ of America’s homes, and it is our joy in Arise Ministries to bring encouragement into the lives of these single parent homes and their children.
Why does Arise care for single moms?
The old adage is true: it takes one to know one! Pam Kanaly used to be a single mother. She was “one” so she knows “one” when she meets “one.” Pam comments, “One thing they all have in common is this; they all want to know their children are going to turn out ok. Deep inside every single mom’s heart is a longing for hope, hope that their household be will able to do more just survive, but thrive.”
Single moms love Pam and connect with her on a very personal level. Pam’s a storehouse of wisdom, carrying successful tips and practical insight in how to raise healthy children when there’s only one adult under the roof.
What does Arise Ministries do for single moms?
The ministry has discovered that no organization can be all things for all single moms. So Arise has taken ownership to the piece of the puzzle in bringing spiritual nourishment through the Survive ‘N Thrive’ conferences. Every summer Arise hosts the only statewide single mothers’ conference in the nation in Oklahoma City. Hundreds and hundreds of single mothers find renewed vigor and fresh hope in their roles as moms. Mothers and children leave the weekend revitalized and encouraged in God’s Word through Pam’s keynote sessions and the breakout sessions.
Survive ‘N Thrive is not just an Oklahoma event. Other states are inviting Arise Ministries to bring the single mothers’ conference to their area. Contact Arise to see how they might bring a booster shot of encouragement to your single moms!
